In Hawaii, Support H.B. 1740 and S.B. 1325 & SafeVoting Hawaii

SafeVoteHawaii Urges Support for Their Safe Voting Bills

Today's edition of "Think Globally, Act Locally" (KAOI 1110 AM, Wednesdays 11-noon) featured Jason Forester, the computer expert who helped write the two bills now pending in the Hawaii legislature to require voter verifiable auditable ballots in all Hawaii voting machines. Jason Forester is with SafeVoteHawaii (www.safevotehawaii.com). Check out their website for more information about the state of voting in Hawaii and the proposed new legislation.

If we don't have an honest, accurate vote procedure, we don't have a democracy. The two bills now pending will help insure that Hawaii votes are accurately counted. There will be a hearing by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Friday, February 11th. Please e-mail, fax or phone your senators and ask them to support S.B. 1325. Then, in two weeks, there will be a hearing before the Finance Committee.

Go to www.safevotehawaii.com or e-mail info@safevotehawaii.com for more information on hearing times and dates.

Maui Peace Action will present "Invisible Ballot" on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at 103 Kalama Building, Maui Community College. Everyone welcome.

The next Maui Peace Action meeting will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2005 at 102 Kalama Building, Maui Community College campus. If you want to work for peace in this world, join MPA and share your ideas and energies.
